Lanalyse! Network Performance Analysis Tool
(c) 1991 by EbSoft
Lanalyse allows you to remotely monitor the various status
information provided by NETBIOS on any NETBIOS network node. You
need not have started your network operating system to run Lanalyse.
HOW TO USE THE PROGRAM:
You may create a text file named NodeList.LAN in the current
directory. This file contains the names of the nodes you wish to
scan, each on its own line with a <CR><LF>. These names can be
any valid NETBIOS name, i.e. machine name or user name. If
NodeList.LAN does not exist, only the local node will be scanned
for analysis.
After determining which of the specified nodes are avilable on the
network, Lanalyse presents you with a picklist of available nodes
on the left of the screen, and on the right side of the screen, a
detailed analysis of NETBIOS status for the selected node.
The information presented is as follows:
Adapter: This is the 6-byte LAN adapter permanent node name.
Type: Adapter type - TRN = Token Ring Network Adapter
PCN = PC Network Adapter
Software Version: major and minor NETBIOS revision levels
Hours Up: Time since last adapter reset.
Error Counts:
Total Packets Xmit/Rcv: Packet counts since reset.
Rcv Reject: Occasions where received frames were rejected
Xmt Reject: Occasions where transmetted frames were rejected
Data Frame: Count of bad data frames received
Aborted Xmit: Count of unsuccessful transmissions
Retransmit: Count of retransmitted frames
No Buffers: Occasions where receiver was out of buffers
T1 Timeout: Number of times the adapter's T1 timer has expired
Ti Timeout: Number of times the adapter's Ti timer has expired
Network Resources:
NCBs available: Amount of Network Control Blocks presently available
NCBs last reset: Max NCBs as set at last reset
Max NCBs: Max NCBs as defined by driver/card
Sessions Active: Amount of NETBIOS Sessions presently active
Sessions last reset: Max sessions as set at last reset
Max Sessions: Max sessions as defined by driver/card
Node Names: This is a listing of up to eight NETBIOS node names
assigned to the adapter. The actual count is shown.
In its default mode, Lanalyse will only recognise machine names
under PC LAN Program, because PCLP appends an ASCII 03 to the end
of user names. You can include user names in the scan by using
the /PCLP switch when invoking Lanalyse, or by setting a DOS
environment variable called LANALYSE to /PCLP with the DOS command
SET LANALYSE=/PCLP
Press <F1> within Lanalyse for the help screen.
